Britain's Benefit Tenants

"...a nuanced and intelligent programme..." The Telegraph

Britain is facing a new crisis in the private rented housing market. Competition for social housing is soaring; with renters having to wait for council properties for years on end, they are being forced to turn to the private market. As a consequence, nearly two million people are falling behind on payments or finding rent a constant struggle

The programme follows the work of two agencies: Castledene, who deal with the housing benefit end of the market, and Beanstalk Lettings, who help landlords with difficult tenants.

These two agencies are at the front line of Britain's social housing crisis as they confront anti-social behaviour, rent arrears and trashed properties.
