This three part series shows a new side to the Pre-Raphaelite artists: bold, shocking radicals creating work which stirred up a critical tsunami in the 19th century.

Largely overlooked today, they were famed, adored and lauded by Victorian society and this series asks whether it was in fact the Pre-Raphaelites who pioneered new approaches to painting that today the art world instead attributes to the Impressionists.

BBC Four, June 2009, 3 x 30 min.
