Now in its eighth year, IWC and Channel4 continue their commitment to innovation, experimentation and new voices.

We will make up to 7 challenging and individual films from the best fresh talent in the UK. Each film will be for a half-hour C4 slot and we are looking for:

• Bold ideas
• Strong voices
• Originality
• Ambition
• Wit
• Urgency
• Films that push boundaries in a way that wouldn't / couldn't be done in mainstream drama
• Films that can be shot in 4 days on a limited budget

THIS IS NOT AN ENTRY LEVEL SCHEME - BUT FOR WRITERS AND DIRECTORS BUILDING A TRACK RECORD AND A CAREER IN FILM AND TELEVISION DRAMA.

Submissions from multi-cultural and regionally-based filmmakers are encouraged.

WRITERS:

This scheme is open to all writers who have NOT had an ORIGINAL single, series or serial broadcast on UK television; writers who have contributed episodes to series or serials (e.g. a long-running soap) are now eligible to apply.

DIRECTORS:

The scheme is open to directors without a primetime TV drama credit.

WRITERS / DIRECTORS:

We will accept submissions from Writer / Directors above, but excellence in BOTH disciplines must be shown to be considered in this category.

The CLOSING DATE for applications is 1pm FRIDAY 4^th April 2008

COMING UP Application Procedure

Please mark all separate documents and/or materials with your name.

WRITERS - Please send hard copies of each of these documents:

• An application form
• An equality and diversity monitoring form
• A synopsis / pitch for your idea for Coming Up (1-2 pages max) - 2 copies
  

  (Although there is no set format for your pitch, you should include information about the aims and ambition of the piece, the basic complete storyline and the key characters. Please see the link below for examples of successful pitches from last year.)

• A detailed CV/Biography - 2 copies
• A writing sample (60 pages max) - 2 copies, NOT bound or stapled
  

  (This can be the script you want to make for the scheme or a different sample of your writing to date. Even if the writing sample you submit is the script you want to make for Coming Up, you MUST still provide a synopsis of the idea.)

DIRECTORS - Please submit all of the following material:

• An application form
• An equality and diversity monitoring form
• 1 x DVD OR VHS with FULL examples of your original work (This must NOT be simply a clip show reel and we will NOT accept multiple DVDs or tapes from each applicant.)
• A detailed CV/Biography
